Following in the footsteps of Lester Young, Zoot Sims would developed into an innovative tenor saxophonist, playing with renowned bands including those of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Stan Kenton, and Buddy Rich.
He enjoyed a long, collaborative partnership with fellow saxophonist Al Cohn throughout the 1950s and '60s as co-leader of a quintet under the name "Al and Zoot", a favorite at New York's Half Note club.
