The "Quintette du Hot Club de France" featuring Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli perform "J'Attendrai" in 1939 short "Jazz Hot."
Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt revolutionized his instrument's role in jazz.
Partially paralyzed in his left hand from severe burns sustained in a caravan fire in November 1928, Django had to reteach himself the guitar using a two finger approach. It was during this time that his unique style began to develop.
Together with violinist Stephane Grappelli he formed "Le Quintette du Hot Club de France" considered among the most original sounding groups in recorded history.
Django was the first European musician to contribute substantially to the development of jazz.
