Review:
This is the sixth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

One of the major jazz pianists of the past 40 years, Fred Hersch quickly developed from a Bill Evans-inspired style into his own adventurous approach, playing along the way with such greats as Art Farmer, Joe Henderson, Jane Ira Bloom, Toots Thielemans, Eddie Daniels, Janis Siegel and, most importantly, his own groups.
Hersch has been livestreaming a song or two each day during the current crisis, giving his audience an opportunity to enjoy his playing on a daily basis.
On the March 31, 2020 live stream, he performs a medium-tempo version of “Embraceable You,” keeping the melody in mind while he takes the George Gershwin standard into some unusual areas.
