Review:

This is the fifty eighth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Support live music – even when it’s streamed!

Acute Inflections is the duo of singer Elasea Douglas and bassist Sadiki Pierre.

Ms. Douglas was classically trained, involved in dance and theatre (performing on Broadway) and became interested in singing jazz as a teenager.

Sadiki Pierre is also classically trained, focused on classical music for a time but chose jazz which he since mastered.

Acute Inflections performs jazz standards along with r&b, top 40, rock and reggae selections during their engagements, but all of their music has the adventure and improvising of jazz.

On their LiveStream from May 22, 2020, Acute Inflections performs “Blue Skies,” a soul ballad, a sensuous version of “Besame Mucho,” “Summertime,” some Stevie Wonder and a few other fine songs, all of which they swing.

Throughout this fine set, Elasea Douglas’ beautiful voice and Sadiki Pierre’s attentive and impressive bass playing make for a perfect team.
