On a trip to London in 2007 I was looking for artists that might be enticed into visiting and writing about New Orleans to help put it back on the map for global travelers.
As luck would have it, poet, literary scholar, and salsa enthusiast Grevel Lindop was doing a reading of his new book about his travels in the Caribbean.
“If you like the Caribbean, you’ll love New Orleans.”
He was sold.
