Detroit Junior is featured for a solo piano performance of his original song “Hot Pants Baby.”

The Chicago blues singer-pianist Emery “Detroit Junior” Williams’ true talent lay in his abilities as a songwriter. He started his career in Detroit accompanying bluesmen such as Eddie Boyd and John Lee Hooker. Originally from Haynes, Arkansas he became known as ‘Detroit’ after his prior city of residence when he moved to Chicago. Detroit Junior recorded his fist single “Money Tree” in 1960 and toured with Howlin’ Wolf during the early ’70s. A number of his compositions have been covered by other blues artists including Albert King and Koko Taylor.
