This recording was produced by Sam Charters in St. Louis, Missouri on May 17, 1961 featuring Henry Townsend (piano & vocals), accompanied by Tommy Bankhead (guitar).

St. Louis’ blues patriarch Henry Townsend, in addition to being a guitar virtuoso with his own distinctive sound, was also an accomplished pianist. He undoubtedly acquired some of his impressive skill on the instrument from his running mate the legendary Walter Davis.
