Elmore James

Rumba-blues

Recorded in April 1953 in Chicago with Elmore James (vocal and guitar), J. T. Brown (tenor sax), Johnny Jones (piano), Ransom Knowling (bass), and Odie Payne (drums).

Dubbed the ‘King of the Slide Guitar’ Elmore James like so many Mississippi bluesmen was influenced greatly by Robert Johnson even naming his band the “Broomdusters” after the song “Dust My Broom” recorded by Johnson.
