Muddy Waters (guitar & vocals) is featured with a band including Pinetop Perkins (piano), Luther Johnson and Bob Margolin (guitars), Jerry Portnoy (harmonica), Calvin Jones (bass), and Willie Smith (drums), at the 1980 Montreal Jazz Festival held at the University Of Montreal performing the songs “Champagne And Reefer” and “Blow Wind Blow.”
Muddy Waters often inspired and taught the blues to others. Paul Butterfield and Michael Bloomfield were two among the group of young musicians who learned directly from Muddy Waters to be featured on his Chess double LP “Fathers And Sons.” Muddy’s contract with Chess ended in 1977 at which time he signed on with Blue Sky Records operated by his student Johnny Winter.
