Champion Jack Dupree (piano & vocals) gives a 1964 performance in Europe.
Self-taught New Orleans pianist Champion Jack Dupree got his start playing in the bars and local clubs. During the 1930s he worked with legendary blues pianist Georgia Tom Dorsey in Chicago. His further travels brought him to Indianapolis, Indiana where he met Scrapper Blackwell and Leroy Carr. Later in Detroit he become a boxer winning the Golden Gloves, and earning his nickname “Champion” Jack.
