Evil

Howlin’ Wolf

“You Better Watch Your Happy Home!”

Howlin’ Wolf sings and blows harp for a late 1960’s performance of “Evil” with his band featuring guitarist Hubert Sumlin.

“Evil”, a Chicago blues standard written by Willie Dixon, was originally recorded by Howlin’ Wolf in 1954 featuring sidemen Hubert Sumlin and Jody Williams (guitars), Otis Spann (piano), Willie Dixon (double-bass), and Earl Phillips (drums). The song became Wolf’s last charting single reaching #43 on the Billboard R&B chart when he re-recorded it for “The Howlin’ Wolf Album” in 1969.
