Harmonica Hinds performs live at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago in 2013.

Born in Trinidad and raised in Canada, Mervyn H.G. Hinds (better known as Harmonica Hines) began playing harmonica on the streets of Toronto under the tutelage of pianist and composer Lafayette Leake.

Hines was first invited to come to Chicago by blues harp icon James Cotton in 1977 while studying at Carleton University, and joined the house band at the famous Chicago blues club Theresa’s Lounge often sharing the stage with Junior Wells.
