It Hurts Me Too

Joe Carter

“Elmore James Jr.”

This recording was made in Chicago in 1976 featuring Joe Carter (guitar & vocals).

Arriving in Chicago in 1952 Joe Carter would form his first with Otis “Big Smokey” Smothers on guitar and Lester Davenport on harp. He was offered a recording contract with Cobra Records but turned it down in favor of continuing to rely solely on his club gigs which paid more. Carter was a regular attraction at Chicago’s premier blues establishments such as the 708 Club, sometimes billed as Joe “Elmore James Jr.” for his master of electric slide guitar.
