Sonny Boy Williamson II
European Fashion
Alex “Rice” Miller aka Sonny Boy Williamson II performs in Europe at the 1963 American Folk Blues Festival featuring backing musicians including Memphis Slim (piano), and Willie Dixon (bass).
Sonny Boy took a liking to the European fans, and while there had a custom-made, two-tone suit tailored personally for him, along with a bowler hat, matching umbrella, and an attaché case for his harmonicas. He appears credited as “Big Skol” on Roland Kirk’s live 1963 album “Kirk in Copenhagen.”
