Matt’s Guitar Boogie
Matt “Guitar” Murphy
Matt Murphy’s guitar
Matt “Guitar” Murphy plays his boogie in Europe on the 1963 American Folk Blues Festival tour accompanied by Memphis Slim (piano), and Willie Dixon (bass).
After playing in Howlin’ Wolf’s band during the late ’40s Matt Murphy started working as a session player. The guitarist’s long association with Memphis Slim beginning in the mid ’50s would eventually lead to touring Europe with the 1963 American Folk Blues Festival with his “Matt’s Guitar Boogie.” He joined “The Blues Brothers” founded by actors Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi in 1978, and appeared in both of the ‘Blues Brothers’ films.
