Lonnie Brooks
Live at Buddy’s
Lonnie Brooks (guitar & vocals) performs live with his band featuring his son Ronnie Baker Brooks (2nd guitar) in Chicago at Buddy Guy’s Legends club.
Originally from Louisiana, Lee Baker got serious about music after relocating to Port Arthur, Texas in the early ’50s. There he was discovered by Clifton Chenier and snatched up to perform in his touring band.
He lunched a solo career with the recording of a few singles released on the Lake Charles’s Goldband label including “Made In The Shade”, “The Crawl”, and the regional favorite “Family Rules.”
Upon his inevitable arrival in Chicago in 1960 using the stage name “Guitar Junior” Baker discovered that the moniker was already appropriated by bluesman Luther Johnson which in turn caused him to change his to Lonnie Brooks.
