Review:
This is the seventh in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.
Support live music – even when it’s streamed!
A major attraction in New Orleans since the mid-1980s, trumpeter and singer Kermit Ruffins co-founded the Rebirth Brass Band in 1983 and since 1992 has been leading the Barbecue Swingers, playing regularly in New Orleans clubs.
A great entertainer whose enthusiastic vocals, hot trumpet solos and showmanship always make him worth watching, Ruffins is featured with his regular quartet on this extensive program from March 28, 2020, one in a series of his weekly streamed shows.
Ruffins performs some Louis Armstrong-associated numbers (“Sleepy Time Down South,” “On The Sunny Side Of The Street,” “What a Wonderful World”), New Orleans favorites (including “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”), standards (such as “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and “Stardust”), pop tunes, New Orleans r&b numbers, some goodtime originals, and even “La Cucuracha.”
With his winning personality, a top-notch and versatile rhythm section, and a colorful repertoire, Kermit Ruffins puts on a crowd pleasing show.

This is the third in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Imagine having pianist-singer Jon Cleary playing his brand of bluesy tunes for you in your living room, explaining what he is performing and putting on an entertaining show.
Originally from England, Cleary has been an important part of the New Orleans jazz scene for 35 years, developing his own style on the piano while inspired by the likes of Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, Dr. John, and James Booker.
On this informal house concert, Jon Cleary is relaxed and spontaneous while giving listeners a strong dose of his New Orleans music which is equal parts r&b, jazz, blues, boogie-woogie and funk, all of it performed soulfully and with a smile.

Review:
This is the first in what will be a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.
Support live music – even when it’s streamed!
Glen David Andrews is an exciting performer from New Orleans who plays rambunctious trombone and contributes personable vocals.
Born in the Tremé neighborhood, Andrews (the cousin of Trombone Shorty) gained a lot of experience playing with brass bands including with the New Birth, Li’l Rascals, ReBirth and Treme before becoming a popular bandleader himself.
During this lengthy and spirited performance from Mar. 30, 2020, Glen David Andrews leads a group consisting of two trombones (including his own), trumpet, guitar, tuba and drums, emphasizing colorful ensembles and his own vocals.
The music is full of joy, propelled by the excellent tuba player, with Andrews being heard throughout at his best.

We will list your live-stream events on this site.
Note: This site is ONLY for musicians who are actively live-streaming during the current pandemic.
To list you we need the following information:
1. The name of group or artist
2. Day and time of performance with time zone
3. The link to the site where you are streaming from (the more specific the better)
4. A link to how people can pay you (optional)
5. A link to your merchandise store (optional)
We will check the info you send and if all the links work, we make a page for you and add it to our calendar which is promoted to a list of over 30,000 active email subscriber jazz fans.
If the info you send it not complete, too vague to be useful or the links don’t work, out of courtesy to our readers we will not add it to the calendar so kindly please take care that the information you send is complete and accurate.
We’re as stretched as anyone else is right now so please take care with your submission. We don’t have customer service resources to apply to this free service.
Here’s a way to conceive of this…
Streaming video rent parties for pay
Totally legit.
Fans pay for concert tickets, CDs, and cover charges, why not streaming? They just need to be educated which is what we’re doing.
But please, send us ready-to-go projects only.
Not plans, speculations, incomplete or inaccurate information, videos of performances recorded pre-pandemic or press releases please. Thanks.
