Review:
This is the hundredth and twenty-eighth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.
Support live music – even when it’s streamed!
Ayo Awosika is a vocalist whose singing crosses musical boundaries, having the improvisation of jazz but also utilizing r&b rhythms
She graduated from the Berklee College of Music, went on tours where she opened for Carlos Santana, Richie Havens and Peter Eldridge, toured with Miley Cyrus and other pop acts, worked as a backup singer and a vocal arranger, and has been part of the meditative r&b band Blesd.
On her LiveStream from July 12, 2020, Ayo Awosika utilizes electronics to create her own rhythmic choir on the opening number (which is quite singable), and performs two appealing folk songs while accompanying herself on guitar,
