A soulful vocalist who puts a lot of feeling into her singing, Faye Carol was born in Meridian, Mississippi and grew up in Pittsburg, California.

She sang in a church choir, took piano lessons, toured with the gospel group The Angelaires and, after high school, worked with such local blues artists as Eddie Foster, Johnny Heartsman, Johnny Talbot and Johnny Taylor & De Thangs.

She began singing jazz regularly in the 1980s without abandoning the blues, and has since worked with Charles Brown, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Hutcherson, Albert King, Pharoah Sanders, Marcus Shelby, and Steve Turre among others.

Faye Carol has appeared at many jazz and blues festivals (including Monterey) and has sometimes worked with her daughter pianist Kito Gamble.

On her LiveStream of May 15, 2020, Faye Carol (who is joined by pianist Joe Warner) puts on a spirited and high-powered show, whether singing vintage standards like “Anything Goes,” “If I Could Be With You” and “The Best Is Yet To Come” or more contemporary material.

Interviewed then plays a solo set.

Amos Hoffman started playing guitar in his native Israel when he was six, soon adding the oud.

After attending the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, he spent time in Amsterdam, settling in New York City where he has worked with many artists including Claudia Acuna, bassist Avishai Cohen, Jason Linder, the Three Cohens, in addition to leading five albums of his own.

While he has become known for blending in elements of Middle East music with modern jazz, he can also play more straight ahead jazz as he shows during his Sept. 30, 2020 LiveStream.

After being briefly interviewed, Amos Hofman performs a continuous set of solo guitar filled with such standards as “Stella By Starlight,” “Ghost Of A Chance,” ”Prelude To A Kiss,” “Days Of Wine And Roses,” “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” “Embraceable You,” “Body and Soul” and “Stompin’ At The Savoy” in thoughtful and swinging renditions.

Near the conclusion of this satisfying set conclusion, he guitarist is joined by flugelhornist Mark Rapp for two songs including “My Ideal.”
