Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, pianist Chris Pattishall, who studied with Marcus Roberts, was a professional jazz pianist as a teenager.
While he has worked with Jimmy Heath, Jon Hendricks, and Wycliffe Gordon. Pattishall has long been attracted to prebop jazz piano, finding his own voice within the genre while feeling free to stretch its boundaries.
His solo piano LiveStream of May 21, 2020 features Pattishall playing songs written by or associated with Fats Waller including “Alligator Crawl,” Jitterbug Waltz,” “Truckin’,” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’”; some of the versions are fantasies based on the original tunes.
The multi-part interpretation of “Truckin’” really displays Chris Pattishall’s creativity without losing the essence of either the song or Fats Waller’s stride style.

Ron Carter is one of the all-time great bassists and the most recorded bassist of all time, appearing on over 2,000 sessions so far.
While he is perhaps best-known for being part of the Miles Davis Quintet during 1963-68, Carter has played with just about every significant jazz musician since 1960 including Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, McCoy Tyner, Joe Henderson, Houston Person, and his own groups, leading at least 45 albums.
Carter performed a solo set on June 20, 2020 that includes a remarkable series of variations on “You Are My Sunshine,” “I Got Rhythm,” and “Morning Of The Carnival” in addition to talking a bit about Miles Davis.

Jon Regen has had a wide-ranging career, starting out as a protégé of pianist Kenny Barron.
He worked with Ted Dunbar, Little Jimmy Scott and Kyle Eastwood but then became a successful singer-songwriter with a series of solo albums and performances.
On his LiveStream from May 20, 2020, Jon Regen puts on an entertaining yet relaxed show, singing and playing some of his originals while displaying a piano style that often hints strongly at New Orleans r&b, switching to a swinging jazz style on “I Don’t Know.”
