Review:
This is the thirty fifth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Percussionist Shane Shanahan creates an awful lot of music from a single ancient drum.
With a background in jazz and rock and a career that has found him playing with Bobby McFerrin, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Philip Glass, Chaka Khan and Deep Purple to name a few, conducting workshops and clinics, working on Broadway and performing with dance, theater and yoga groups, Shanahan has had a diverse and busy life.
On this fascinating display from April 23, 2020, Shane Shanahan creates a great deal of music from a single drum (sounding like several percussionists at once) , sounds like a tabla player on an Indian-inspired piece, and accompanies a singer on an early Jewish folk song.
The World Music is quite intriguing and haunting.

Review:
This is the one hundred and eightieth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.
Support live music – even when it’s streamed!
Keyboardist Mike del Ferro was born in Amsterdam, studied classical piano from the age of nine, and switched to jazz a few years later, earning a Master in Contemporary Music at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
He extensively studied composition and arranging with Bob Brookmeyer and became an educator himself at the Royal Conservatory in Gent, Belgium.
Mike del Ferro has worked and recorded with such notables as Toots Thielemans, Branford Marsalis, Jack DeJohnette, Randy Brecker, Scott Hamilton, and Richard Galliano among many others, and has led more than 20 albums of his own.
On his solo LiveStream from Apr. 25, 2020, Mike del Ferro starts off with an improvised atmospheric ballad on his keyboards that builds up as it evolves.
The talented keyboardist also plays some other originals (including “A Little Waltz In B Flat”), performs “Blue Bossa” and a little bit of Jobim, and puts on a You Tube clip of Toninho Horta’s record “Aqui, Oh!”
