Albert Ayler interviewed by Swing Journal, July 25, 1970
Swing Magazine was founded in Japan in 1947. Today, it is the most read jazz magazine in Japan and may well be the most read jazz magazine in the world.
John McPhee, born in Miami in 1939 and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, started on the trumpet and added the saxophone at 32 after experiencing the music of John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, and Ornette Coleman. His career has been fantastically prolific.
Ornette is interviewed by Richard Williams on April 18, 1972 for the program “Whistles Test.” The subject of “Skies of America” and its performance by the London Symphony Orchestra comes up.
