This is the one hundred forty-seventh in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Born and raised in Israel, Dekel Bor started playing guitar when he was 15 and was soon performing locally.

After earning a scholarship to the Royal Danish Academy, he moved to Copenhagen when he was 19 and played in Denmark including with Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson and Johnny Griffin.

Dekel Bor moved to New York when he was 21, attending the New School, working with Reggie Workman and putting together his own trio, soon performing with such notables as Roy Hargrove, Pat Martino, Horace Parlan, Buster Williams, Adam Nussbaum, Donny McCaslin, Rachel Z. and others while continuing to develop his own fresh and unclassifiable style on guitar.

A serious motorcycle accident in 2015 knocked him out of action for a time and he had to relearn how to play the guitar, but Dekel Bor has made a full comeback.

On his LiveStream of Oct. 24, 2020, Dekel Bor performs with his trio playing original music that, like that of John Scofield, can sometimes sound rockish but is full of inventive jazz improvising and thoughtful moments along with a bluesy feel.

Mark G. Meadows began playing a toy keyboard when he was three and had serious piano lessons at five.

A professional as a teenager, Meadows earned degrees from John Hopkins University and the Peabody Conservatory.

He has since worked with everyone from Usher and Renee Fleming to Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington, Bobby McFerrin, Terence Blanchard, Kurt Elling, and Warren Wolf among others.

Meadows has also acted and been the musical director in shows (including a tribute to Nat King Cole, Ain’t Misbehavin,’” and Jelly’s Last Jam), performed as a singer, and led four albums of his own so far.

On his LiveStream from Aug. 05, 2020, he plays an electric keyboard, accompanying and interacting with the versatile singer Christie Dashiell on a set of original material that covers several moods and idioms while always being creative jazz.
