Jazz meets r&b meets gospel on this performance by the Justin Taylor Trio and singer Jhane ‘B.
Pianist Justin Taylor graduated from Towson University with a degree in Jazz Studies and Commercial Music.
The Baltimore-based pianist has since had diverse musical experiences in several different idioms including working with Tim Warfield and Warren Wolf.
Jhane ‘B is an r&b and gospel singer who sang as a youth at her Grandfather’s church and a vocalist who sometimes sounds a little like Dianne Reeves.
Taylor, who contributes some jazz solos and plays stride piano on the final piece ( a swinging duet with the singer), collaborates with Jhane and his quartet on a set of r&b (including Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You”), gospel, and jazz for their Oct. 17, 2020 LiveStream.

This is the two hundred and thirty-third in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Trumpeter Duane Eubanks, the younger brother of trombonist Robin Eubanks and guitarist Kevin Eubanks, grew up in Philadelphia, started on the trumpet when he was 11, studied jazz at Temple University, and has been part of the New York jazz scene for the past 25 years.
Among his many musical experiences was playing with Mulgrew Miller in Wingspan, working with Dave Holland, Elvin Jones, Curtis Fuller, John Hicks, and Louis Hayes, and leading four albums of his own.
Duane Eubanks’ LiveStream of Aug. 16, 2020, has the trumpeter and his quartet playing a continuous 67-minute piece that covers a wide variety of moods, from tender and brooding to heated and joyful.
One admires the group’s endurance, consistent creativity, and their ability to hold one’s interest throughout.
