Review:

This is the hundred and eleventh in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Tony Glausi is a trumpeter and keyboardist who grew up in Portland, Oregon and is based in New York.

He has worked steadily in New York during the past few years including with Peter Cincotti, Randy Porter, and Halie Loren, is an educator, and has so far released seven albums of his own in his young career.

On his LiveStream from Aug. 1, 2020, Tony Glauci displays a warm tone and a relaxed style on trumpet as he plays “All The Things You Are”

The remainder of the set switches between his solo playing (singing and playing keyboards on a ballad and playing some beautiful unaccompanied trumpet on “Stardust”) and a previously unreleased performance from Feb. 20, 2020 on which Glausi plays piano with a quintet also including tenor-saxophonist Julian Lee, keyboardist Ryan Slatko, bassist Don Chmielinski and drummer Bryan Carter.

The earlier performance, which features heated and adventurous playing from Lee, has the quintet playing “Once Upon A Dream,” the funky “Forever,” and “Caravan” with Glausi switching to trumpet on the latter.
