Husband and wife Charnett Moffett and Jana Herzen have both had significant careers.
The son of drummer Charles Moffett, Charnett Moffett began playing bass and recording in the family band when he was just eight.
Since that time he has played with nearly every one of importance in modern jazz including Branford and Wynton Marsalis (back in the 1980s), Stanley Jordan, Tony Williams, Art Blakey, Ornette Coleman, Kenny Garrett and many others, leading at least 18 albums of his own.
Jana Herzen has been a performer for years but first became well known for founding the Motema label in 2003 and producing many memorable recordings.
A singer-songwriter who also plays guitar, Jana Herzen teams up with the virtuoso electric bass playing of Charnett Moffett to perform a set of colorful originals on their LiveStream of July 30, 2020; their music, which could be called modern folk with jazz inspirations, cannot easily be categorized.
