This is the ninetieth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Support live music – even when it’s streamed!

One of the finest jazz singers of the past 30 years, Karrin Allyson’s long string of recordings for the Concord label found her singing bop, Brazilian music, jazz standards, Mose Allison-type blues, and pop and folk songs from her youth with equal skill and swing.

Also a solid pianist Karrin Allyson, on her LiveStream of July 11, 2020, teams up with bassist Jeff Johnson for a fun set of diverse music.

Among the songs that they perform during this enjoyable outing are a spiritual folk ballad, a lightly swinging version of “The Shadow Of Your Smile,” a scat-filled romp based on “Doxy,” Abbey Lincoln’s blues “Long As You’re Living,” and a vocal-bass duet on “Straight No Chaser.”
