The team of violinist Tomoko Omura and pianist Glenn Zaleski first recorded together on Omura’s Roots a few years ago.
The violinist was born in Shizuoka, Japan, moved to the U.S. in 2004 to study at Berklee, and since moving to New York in 2010 has grown to become one of jazz’s top violinists, performing with such top artists as Fabian Almazan, Paquito D’Rivera and Aubrey Johnson.
Glenn Zaleski, who was raised in Massachusetts, attended the Brubeck Institute at the University of the Pacific and the New School; he has led four albums of his own.
The two make a mutually inspiring duo during this LiveStream from June 9, 2020, performing Bud Powell’s “Bouncin’ With Bud” and four originals: “Lullaby For The Unknown,” “Time Unfolds,” “Taking Flight” and “Journey In The Fullness Of Time.”
Their close interplay, tradeoffs, and the blend that they create make this LiveStream a colorful musical flight with plenty of variety in moods and tempos.
