Round Midnight

An original composition first recorded in 1944 by jazz piano legend Thelonious Monk, “’Round Midnight” has since become a jazz standard. It has been covered by trumpet greats such as Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie.
At the time of this performance Harlem native Bud Powell was going through a Monk tribute phase, having recorded the previous year the album “A Portrait of Thelonious.”
