During the past 20 years, Jeremy Pelt has carved out his own place in the jazz world, invigorating the hard bop tradition with his colorful solos, warm sound, and impressive technique.
He has performed with the who’s who of modern straight ahead jazz, leading a string of enjoyable recordings and sparking the music of both all-star combos and big bands alike.
For this version of Cole Porter’s “Love For Sale” from 2014 performed at Gregory’s Jazz Club in Rome, Pelt is joined by pianist Pietro Lussu (who takes an excellent solo), bassist Vincenzo Florio, and drummer Adam Pache.
The tightness and interplay of the quartet can make one think that this was a regular group rather than just a short-term engagement.
