Guitarist John Scofield has long had his own distinctive sound, has been quite adept at playing in an open style that crosses over between straight ahead jazz and funk, and he has been creating stirring music since the 1970s.
On an infectious and funky “Chicken Dog,” Scofield’s playing is filled with plenty of fireworks as he interacts with electric bassist Steve Swallow and drummer Bill Stewart in colorful fashion.
