Pianist-singer Les McCann first played “Cold Duck Time” with tenor-saxophonist Eddie Harris at the 1969 Montreux Jazz Festival during the same set that included their famous rendition of “Compared To What.”

McCann only recorded the catchy number on one other occasion, in a small group in 1997, but the song was adopted by many other musicians.

This version is several decades later with McCann on electric keyboards performing with a group of fine European jazz musicians; the tenor, trumpet, trombone and guitar solos are all excellent.
