Saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor, and bandleader Thomas Wright “Tom” Scott was born on May 19, 1948, in Los Angeles.
In addition to leading his own groups, Scott is highly sought-after as a studio musician.
He co-founded the “Blues Brothers Band” and composed the theme songs for the TV shows Starsky and Hutch and The Streets of San Francisco.
Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, George Harrison, the Beach Boys, the Grateful Dead, Paul McCartney, and others have all featured him on their tracks.
A three-time Grammy Award winner, Scott has released over twenty albums as a leader since 1967.
In addition to playing the saxophone, Tom also plays the clarinet and flute. He began his professional career in his teens as the leader of his “Neoteric Trio.”
Like his father, he is best known as a composer of TV themes, including those for the shows Starsky and Hutch and The Streets of San Francisco.
The three-time Grammy winner has also composed several TV and film scores, including his work on the movie “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.”
As a performer with the “Les Deux Love Orchestra,” Tom Scott has conducted more than thirty symphony orchestras worldwide and has served as a session musician for many renowned recording artists.
