Peter Gunn was a detective series that was on television during 1958-61.
Henry Mancini wrote the music for the popular series, and while the “Peter Gunn Theme” became famous, other jazz numbers were also an integral part of the backgrounds.
Occasionally jazz artists appeared on screen which is the case for this brief but lively performance.
Drummer Shelly Manne leads his quintet, which also includes trumpeter Stu Williamson, altoist Herb Geller, pianist Russ Freeman, and bassist Monty Budwig, through an unidentified Henry Mancini cool jazz number.
