Formed in 2009 and popular ever since, Tuba Skinny always puts on strong performances whether playing in the streets of New Orleans or at concerts.
From 2018, the group consists of cornetist-leader Shaye Cohn, trombonist Barnabus Jones, clarinetist Chris Flory, Ewan Bleach on saxophone, guitarists Greg Sherman and Max Bien-Kahn, banjoist Jason Lawrence, sousaphonist Todd Burdick, Erika Lewis on bass drum and Robin Rapuzzi on washboard.
They perform “Once In A While,” the hot number recorded by Louis Armstrong’s Hot Five in the 1920s, not the swing era ballad of the same name.
The horns have fine spots topped off by Cohn’s stop-time cornet solo.
