After 45 years mostly spent at the top of the jazz and music worlds, Louis Armstrong in 1968 toured England with his All-Stars, a sextet that at the time featured trombonist Tyree Glenn.

Looking very thin but still playing with power and singing with warmth, Armstrong performs one of the tunes that had been in his repertoire since the early 1950s, “A Kiss To Build A Dream On,” on a television show for the BBC.

Bad health would soon force his retirement although he made a short-lived comeback in 1970.

This was one of Louis Armstrong’s last appearances with his All-Stars, still sounding in prime form.
