Throughout her career, jazz singer Cyrille Aimee never fails to surprise and delight audiences.

She sings the late 1920s jazz standard “After You’ve Gone” with pianist Mathis Picard, bassist Dario Deidda, and drummer Pedro Segundo.

The performance begins with a straightforward rendition of the song’s verse and chorus.

Ms. Aimee scats for a bit with the tempo soon becoming quite fast, and she includes a stop-time scat chorus.

Picard takes a solo that becomes wild before the singer returns for a very bluesy ending during this continually surprising and stirring performance.
