A rapid rendition by Pizzarelli’s trio

Guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has never been shy to stretch himself while being rooted in the swing tradition.
Ray Kennedy was the regular pianist in his trio during 1995-2005 before multiple sclerosis forced his retirement; he passed away in 2015.
With Martin Pizzarelli on bass, the trio performs a remarkably rapid version of “After You’ve Gone.”
John Pizzarelli takes a quick vocal, Kennedy is dazzling during his piano solo, Pizzarelli’s equally impressive guitar solo has an unaccompanied chordal chorus, and the song ends with another fast vocal.
Somehow the John Pizzarelli Trio sounds relaxed during this rather impressive performance.
