Joey Alexander, who is now 19, is no longer a child prodigy and is simply a brilliant jazz pianist.
Self-taught at the age of six, Alexander had been a featured guest at a Wynton Marsalis when he was 10, made his first album when he was 12, and was the talk of the jazz world throughout his early years.
Fortunately he has continued to evolve and grow as a musician since that time as can be heard and seen in his exploration of “Angel Eyes” (an original, not the Matt Dennis tune) from 2022.
Joined and supported by bassist Kris Funn and drummer John Davis, Alexander infuses “Angel Eyes” with a steady flow of fresh ideas during his energetic performance.
