One of the major jazz guitarists to emerge during the 2020’s, Pasquale Grasso in some ways was a successor to Joe Pass in that he was masterful at playing unaccompanied boppish solos and was able to make even the best-known standards sound fresh and creative.

“April In Paris” became a jazz standard when organist Wild Bill Davis recorded his version in the early 1950s and then it was adapted into a classic arrangement for the Count Basie Orchestra.

For his rendition of “April In Paris,” Grasso is joined by bassist Ari Roland (who takes a bowed solo) and drummer Phil Stewart.

The guitarist sounds equally skilled whether playing single-note lines or displaying his chord voicings.
