Aurora Nealand

Winner: Best of the Beat (New Orleans)

Rising star: Jazz on the Tube ’06 Downbeat ’10 Off Beat ’15

We’ve been huge fans of Aurora Nealand since we first saw her at the Spotted Cat on Frenchman Street in New Orleans in 2006.

In addition to her role in many bands and musical projects, she now leads her own group “The Royal Roses.”

This year Off Beat Magazine recognized her as New Orleans’ top saxophonist.

In 2010 Downbeat Magazines recognized her as one of the rising stars on soprano saxophone.

We’re proud to say we put it in writing first in 2006. 🙂

Like all serious artists, there is more that can be said about her than fits in this short blurb. There’s a good bio of her on her site which will give you a fuller picture of her work.

You can follow her career and get her CDs (which we strongly recommend you do, they’re excellent) here: http://www.AuroraNealand.com
