Delfeayo Marsalis

A fine showcase for trombonist Marsalis and his father

Although he was always a bit overshadowed by his rather notable older brothers (Wynton and Branford Marsalis), Delfeayo Marsalis has long been a talented trombonist.

While most influenced by J.J. Johnson, Marsalis is also skilled at playing New Orleans jazz.

On this straightforward version of “Autumn Leaves,” he is joined by his father pianist Ellis Marsalis, his younger brother drummer Jason Marsalis, and bassist David Pulphus; the trombonist and his father take excellent boppish solos.
