Chattanooga Choo Choo – 1941

Glenn Miller and the Nicholas Brothers

One of Miller’s greatest hits in a particularly memorable version

Glenn Miller had the most popular of all big bands during 1939-42.

He and his orchestra appeared in two Hollywood films: Sun Valley Serenade and Orchestra Wives.

The climax of Sun Valley Serenade was a definitive version of Miller’s Chattanooga Choo Choo, an extended version featuring his orchestra, singer Tex Beneke, and his vocal group the Modernaires.

After the orchestra plays their extended rendition of the million seller, there is some typically remarkable dancing from the Nicholas Brothers (assisted at first by Dorothy Dandridge) that steals the show.
