Throughout his career, pianist Brad Mehldau has often interpreted unlikely material including pop, rock, r&b and classical pieces, turning them into creative jazz.

It is a skill not to be taken for granted for few others have successfully achieved this transformation on a consistent basis and had the final result sound as if it was originally written for a jazz group.

In 2010 at Jazz á Vienne, Mehldau performs Jeff Buckley’s “Dream Brother,” making it seem as if its origins were actually in classical music while building up the piece to an intense level.
