In his productive career, Kurt Rosenwinkel has not only created an original voice on the guitar and performed in many different settings, but he has also developed as a major composer.
In 2015 he teamed up with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band to perform his “East Coast Love Affair.”
The orchestra, which was conducted by Mike Holober (who also provided the arrangement), is typical of the European radio big bands in that it is a fulltime operation and is filled with superior musicians.
“East Coast Love Affair,” which has Rosenwinkel as the main soloist with a spot for pianist Peter Reiter, begins as a thoughtful ballad before becoming a spirited romp with the guitarist heard throughout in top form.
