“First Song” was the title track off of a 1990 album from bassist Charlie Haden – an original composition. Over the course of his carer Haden has collaborated with Michael Brecker, Ornette Coleman, Keith Jarrett, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Joe Henderson.
For his mid-’90s work with fellow one-time Missouri resident Pat Metheny he would win a Grammy.
One of his daughters, Petra, is in the folk group “The Decemberists”.
