When Wes Montgomery (1923-68) was in England in the summer of 1965, fortunately he was filmed on several occasions.
While his albums for Verve (and soon A&M) became increasingly commercial and simplified, Montgomery was still playing creative and swinging jazz when he played in public.
From May 7, 1965, the guitarist performs one of his most famous originals, “Four On Six,” which is based on “Summertime.”
He is joined by pianist Stan Tracey, bassist Rick Laird, and drummer Jackie Dougan.
