Pat Martino (1944-2021) was one of the top jazz guitarists to emerge during the second half of the 1960s, creating a style based in hard bop and soul jazz that was also open to the influences of fusion and the avant-garde.

After developing his own sound and having a viable career, he suffered from a near-fatal seizure in 1980 which resulted in amnesia; he spent several years relearning how to play guitar.

Miraculously he was able to resume his career and stayed active until 2018.

From 2014, Pat Martino stretches out on Wes Montgomery’s “Full House” in a trio with organist Pat Bianchi and drummer Carmen Intorre.
