John Pisano (1931-2024) loved to play with other guitarists and had a long-term association with Joe Pass in addition to appearing on a countless number of dates as a session player.
Pisano hosted a weekly Guitar Night at various locations in Southern California for years, teaming up with scores of other great guitarists.
In 2013 he played a night of duets with Anthony Wilson who was 37 years his junior.
Wilson, the son of the great bandleader and arranger-composer Gerald Wilson, has been a major guitarist since the 1990s as a player and a writer.
On a swinging version of Dizzy Gillespie’s “Good Bait” which unfortunately eventualy fades out, Pisano and Wilson prove to be a perfect team even though they had rarely played with each other; plenty of fireworks result.
