Honeysuckle Rose
Lena Horne
“A brief but memorable version by the glamorous star”

One of Lena Horne’s best cameo appearances in a film was this version of “Honeysuckle Rose” from 1943.
First, altoist Benny Carter is featured for a half-chorus.
Lena Horne then makes a grand entrance (accentuated by mirrors) and does a fine job singing the Fats Waller song.
In addition to her glamour, this film clip shows that Lena Horne could have been a major jazz singer if she had chosen that path throughout her career.
